Some places are so beautiful that there really isn’t much to say, except “wow”. Hof bei Salzburg, located about 40 minutes by car from downtown Salzburg, is exactly one of these places. We stayed at the Schloss Fuschl, one of the most beautiful hotels I’ve ever been to – finally all my hotel points from my other life as a management consultant have come in handy! Let me say, it did not disappoint in view, service, quality of the free amenities (spa, with both normal and Finnish sauna, complimentary daily restock of the minibar, free bottle of house-label champagne, unlimited access to the lake and hotel fishery). The primary appeal is the lake view, as you can see:

There is also a small town, accessed via a short boat ride from the hotel. There is a car service to get folks back, as it is truly a “locals only” experience. Interestingly, the Red Bull global headquarters is located just alongside the lake – talk about an incredible place to work!

Overall, it was a serene couple days of absolute, self-indulgent luxury (albeit on hard earned hotel points!).
